THE STANDARD

There are standards in the world today and we try to keep them consistent. For example, a mile should be the same length any where in the world. While it may be easier to work with estimates of standards, working with such may land man a failed mission in a task like going to the moon. The measurements must be thorough and complete because every estimation results in a deviation and when lives are involved, you won’t want to risk that.
In the same way, there is a standard in God’s Kingdom. Jesus the Son is the standard

He is God’s first born Son, the eldest in God’s family (Romans 8:29). To the Church, He is the head, the husband (Ephesians 5:23). Among the dead, He is the first to defeat death (Colossians 1:18). In God’s building, He is the capstone (Mark 12:10; Ephesians 2:20). Before men and angels, He is most exalted and His Name is the only one that grants salvation (Acts 4:12). In God’s army, He is the captain (Joshua 5:14). In the priesthood, he is the [Great] High Priest (Hebrews 4:14). For the spiritual race, He is the forerunner (Hebrews 6:20) and as regards the human race, He is the Whole Man. Obviously, He is preeminent.

God’s Kingdom will not contain anything that corrupts or is defiled (Ephesians 5:5-6; Revelation 22:15). One act of sin made God unseat man from Eden and man felt the full grip of death, because the wages of sin is death. Sin is rebellion against the standard, lawlessness. When Lord Jesus would have finished cleaning His threshing floor, only righteousness would be. That is what the Father wants and He will have it.

Let us press forward toward the mark, towards the goal that the Father has set for us. The goal is Jesus himself and that is why we are being changed to conform to Him. We keep looking to Him who begins and completes our faith.
