Have you heard this before: “Jesus is the way to heaven?” It sounds nice but it misses the emphasis of Jesus’ words.

The above statement comes from John 14:6:
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Thomas asked the Lord where He was going (John 14:5). The Lord did not smile at him and say, “I go to heaven, dear Thomas.” Jesus told him that both the destination and the way to the destination were People. Jesus Himself was the Way and His Father was the Destination.

Think about that.

The Father desires to bring you into intimacy with the Son and the Son desires to bring you into intimacy with the Father. As far as the Father is concerned, nothing is as important as the Son, including your desire of heaven. To the Son, nothing is as important as the Father, not even your desire of heaven.

Remember Matthew 11:27
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Do not forget Hebrews 3:3. The One Who made heaven is of more honour than heaven (Paraphrase).

To the Father: the Son Himself is

1. wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption (1 Corin. 1:30). Please get the point that Jesus does not just make you righteous or give you the gift of righteousness, He is righteousness personified.

2.He is your life (Colosians 3:4) He doesn’t just give you life, He is your life.

3. He is eternal life (John 14:6; 1 John 1:2). Remember that the ultimate gift of the Father, eternal life is in the relationship with the Father and the Son (John 17:3).

He is many more I cannot mention now (to keep this short).

This is my point: God is more interested in giving you Jesus than in anything else.

Do you know that the desire of heaven above the Lord of heaven can pass for idolatry? Hard words right?

There is nothing, no one as glorious, exquisite, beautiful, overwhelming, lovely and captivating as the Lord Himself. Why seek for something or someone less?

What will you do with the Lord Jesus?
